Wednesday, April 1 at 12:36 PM:
Thank you
Monday, February 16 at 06:49 AM: Laird-- The Speaker and the Senate President have agreed that a compromise on the MM in the Workplace issue has to be worked out, and they have asked for a Senate/House workgroup to take it on and come back with a compromise propsosal by the end of April. This is very good news, in my view, since something along the lines of what I've been proposing seems to be the likely outcome (something like the "safety sensitive positions" approach). In addition, the Oregon Business Association has offered to help broker a compromise if needed, and they seem to actually "get" the issue--that treating medical marijuana differently from other medications is clearly not the intent of the voters as well as being simply unfair, and that pontential safety issues are reasonable to address but need to be addressed in a reasonable way. I won't be part of the work group given the time required by the Ways & Means work, but Rep. Michael Dembrow, a long time union rep and community college instructor from Portland, is stepping in for me. He'll keep me posted and I'll keep you posted. And I do hope that SB 338 can be made workable.... Thanks & Onward, PB"
